Bernham Shepard
b. circa 1816
- Bernham Shepard was born circa 1816 in New Hampshire.
- The following appeared on 29 March 1848 in Augusta, Georgia, in The Daily Chronicle & Sentinel: Cancers. Important to the Afflicted! Among the many discoveries which are adding to the blessings of the present generation, the undersigned confidently assures the public that he has discovered a remedy for that dreadful disease called Cancer, hitherto deemed incurable. The origin of the remedy was in his own case, which, almost against hope, he succeeded in curing, after many trials of other remedies without success. He has been using the same remedy now for six years, and in all cases successfully, when application was made in time. He considers it injudicious, perhaps improper, to boast of his treatment, or to make promises beyond any possible performance, for there are cases so far gone as to be incurable; but he invites the afflicted to consult Mr. L. C. Service, and if he shall satisfy them of his ability to make cures, they can then try his remedy.
Mr. Service is in possession of all the knowledge I have as regards his remedy. I have disposed of my recipe to him. Burnham Shepard.
The undersigned can be found at all times at the Drug Store of Wm. Haines, where he can be consulted on the treatment of Cancer, and will be happy to exhibit the many testimonials of the success of the above recipe. L. C. Service. - The following appeared on 28 March 1850 in The Daily Alabama Journal: Dr. Burnham Shepard of Vermont, the successful cancer doctor, arrived. he tarried for some time, and performed numerous cures for cancer. D. Alvin Burrows purchased his remedies and mode of treatment.
- The following appeared on 2 August 1850 in the Tri-Weekly Alabama Journal: Important to the Public. Being about to leave the South finally, and feeling a duty incumbent upon me to tender releif, as much as in my power, to the sufferings of the human family, I take this method of informing the public, and particularly those afflicted with Cancers, Ulcers or Scrofula, that I have left with Dr. ALVIN BURROWS my entire theory and treatment of the above diseases; and I take pleasure in stating that i know him fully capable of rendering all the advice and assistance that I, myself, could render in any of the above named diseases. He may be found at all times, by application at the Montgomery Hall, or by letter addressed to him at Montgomery, Ala. DR. BURNHAM SHEPARD.
