         Burial in Rest Lawn Cemetery was under direction of Gililland Funeral Home.
         Mrs. Ward, a native of Eastland County, died Saturday afternoon at Deaf Smith County Hospital, following an illness of several months.
         A former resident of Borger, she had lived in Hereford since 1938.
         Survivors include her husband, E. Ward of the home; for sons, Ervin Ward of Hereford, James E. Ward of Westminster, Calif.: Ethredge Ward Jr. of Long Beach, Calif., and Alvin Earl Ward of Tucson, Ariz; two brothers, Ernest Brown of Duncan, Okla., and Claude Brown of Tulia; two sisters, Mrs. Lon Johnson of Dublin and Mrs. Dolly Mae Wilson of Wellington; her mother, Mrs. Lydia Brown of Wellington; and eight grandchildren.

  • The following appeared on 13 April 1989 in The Wellington Leader: James Ellis Ward of Yarba Linda, Ca. died March 27, 1989. Mr. Ward was born February 23, 1917 in the Lillie Community but lived in Quail until 1940. He married Gladys Boutcher January 1, 1940 and moved to California where they lived until his death. He was a welder for a ship builder to the early years of 1940 and for the past 39 years was a dump truck owner/operator. He was preceded in death by his parents Ethredge and Ethel Ward, a brother, Ervin, all of Hereford; brother, Alvin of Fountain Valley, Ca. He was a nephew of Mrs. Dollie Mae Wilson and brother-in-law of Mrs. Etta Farmer of Wellington.
