  • The following appeared on 20 July 2002 in The Macon Telegraph: (Sandersville) Mr. Mack Ray South, age 89, of 107 West Second Avenue in Sandersville died Friday, July 19 in the Washington Regional Medical Center in Sandersville.
         Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday, July 20 in the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Dr. Jay Harris will officiate with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.
         Mr. South was a native of Stephens County, GA, the son of the late Marion Francis South and the late Hattie Oakley South. He was the husband of the late Del Ray Cunningham South. Mr. South was a retired supervisor for the Farmers and Home Administration. He was a charter member of the Sandersville Rotary Club and a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
         Survivors include two daughters, Ray South Irwin of Sandersville and Debra South Garner of Hawkinsville; four grandchildren, Ray Garner, Erin I. Garner, Ivy L. Irwin and Leigh A. Irwin; three sisters, Mozelle Nash of Royston, Hattie Elrod and Gladys Milford, both of Carnesville.
         May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
         The family suggest that donations may be made to the Sandersville United Methodist Church or the Brentwood School Foundation.
