         The State of Texas County of Shelby
         To the Hon. D. S. Carnahan Judge of the County Court in and for same County. The undersigned, your petitioner, Rebecca Adams a citizen of said County and State, respectfully represents that she is the surviving widow of Thos. J. Adams (commonly called Jefferson Adams) who was a Texas Veteran and participated in the struggle between Texas and Mexico. Servd for a period of three months between the 9th day of October A.D. 1835 and the 23rd day of April A.D. 1836 as is evidenced by a certified copy of his Bounty Land Warrant hereto attached and made part of this petition, and which is prayed to be taken and read as such. She further aver that she now remains and ever has remained unmarried since the death of the said Thomas J. Adams – that she is in very indegent circumstances being old and infirm and with no means of support whatever. All of which she proposes to substantiate. Rebecca Adams

         Bounty Land Warrant: 320 Acres Republic of Texas. Know all men to whom these presents shall come, that Thomas J. Adams having served faithfully and honorably for the term of three months from the 7th day of Oct. to the 18th Decr. 1835 and from the 1st March untill the 23rd day of April A.D. 1836, and having been honorably discharged is entitled to Three Hundred and Twenty Acres County Land for which this is his Certificate and the said Thomas J. Adams is entitled to hold said land or to sell alienate, convey and donate the same, and to exercise all rights of ownership over it. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand at Austin this twenty second day January 1846, Wm. G. Cooke. Approved May 20 1847.
