- The following appeared in the Richmond Times-Dispatch: (Norfolk, Jan. 16) Mrs. Katherine Campbell Groner, widow of General Virginius D Growner, daughter of the late Justice John A Campbell, of the Supreme Court of the United States, and mother of Judge D. Lawrence Groner, of the United States District Court, died last evening.
On her mother's side, Mrs. Groner was descended from the Goldthwaite family of Alabama. She was born in Mobiile, Ala., and moved to Washington, D.D., in 1852, on the appointment of her father as an associate justice of the Supreme Court.
When the Confederate War began she went with her father to Richmond, and shortly after the war was married to General Groner. She had lived in Norfolk for more than fifty years. Her father was a member of the famous peace conference held during the War Between the States with a view to ending the war.
She wa one of the oldest communicants of Christ Church and took a great interest in all the activities of the church. [:CR;] She is survived by three sons--J. A. C. Groner, Judge D. Lawrence Groner and Robert N. Groner, and two sister, Mrs. Frederick M. Colston and Miss Runa Campbell, both of Baltimore.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Christ Church, with Dr. F. C. Steinmetz officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
