A native of Port Arthur, he had been a resident of Beaumont for many years before moving to Dallas. Gerald was a United States World War II Army Air force Veteran having been a mechanic on the B-17 Airplane. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas. His hobbies were fishing, World War II airplanes, cigars, and he was a Civil War buff. His wife, Helen Kerr Kempe; his parents, Emma Stiefer Kempe and Rano Kempe; his brother, Rhinehardt Kempe; and his twin sister, Geraldine Kempe Houtz preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Kyle Kempe of Dallas. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Graveside services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Magnolia Cemetery.
