Martha Whitaker was born say 1810.
A bond for the marriage of Martha Whitaker and Hampton LeGrand was secured on 28 June 1839 in Richmond County, North Carolina, with bondsman Elisha Burns, and witness G. A. Nicholson.
She married Hampton LeGrand, son of William LeGrand and Ermine Elliott Vaughan, on 2 July 1839 in Richmond County, North Carolina, at the residence of Col. James LeGrand, with the Rev. Mr. Rowman officiating. The marriage was witnessed by Wade LeGrand.
The following appeared on 9 July 1839 in the Carolina Observer: Married, In Richmond County, at the residence of Col. James Legrand, on Tuesday 2d inst., by the Rev. Mr. Rowman, Mr. Hampton Legrand to Miss Martha Whitaker, formerly of Halifax, N. C.
Her husband Hampton LeGrand became a widower at her death.
Martha Whitaker died in 1842.
She was interred at LeGrand Cemetery, Richmond County, North Carolina.
