b. 25 June 1774, d. 9 February 1838

  • A bond for the marriage of Elizabeth Edwards and Reuben Douglass was secured on 25 January 1791 in Sumner County, Tennessee.
  • She married Reuben Douglass, son of Edward Douglass and Sarah Elizabeth George, circa January 1791, and Elizabeth's sister Sarah married Reuben's brother Edward's son William Douglass.
  • On 20 October 1827, William Edwards prepared a will, summarized as follows: leaving bequests to his daughter Loveny Mitchell, grandson Prestley Hassell, granddaughter Charlotte Green, Harriett Looney, and four children of his deceased son William Edwards (Montalbot, Richard, William and Malvina), with the entire residue of his property to his youngest daughter Sally Douglass; he appointed his two sons-in-law, Reuben Douglass and William H. Douglass, executors. The will was recorded in Sumner County, Tennessee, during the February term, 1828. [Although the first bequest apparently has no recipient, likely it was his eldest daughter Elizabeth who is otherwise unmentioned, although her husband Reuben is named one of the executors.]

Douglass, daughter Evaline Franklin, five unmarried daughters Sophia, Malisa, Patsey, Emma and Elizabeth, son Bennett E. Douglass, and a bequest toward the education of the youngest children of his deceased daughter Peggy Green (Sophia, Edward and Peggy); he appointed his two sons, Willie J. Douglass and Bennett E. Douglass, executors. The will was recorded in Sumner County, Tennessee, during the November term, 1832.
