The remains of Mrs. Josie C. Diffley, who died in Birmingham Monday afternoon, reached the city last night on the 9:55 train. The funeral will take place from the residence of Mrs. A. J. Diffley, No. 1821 First avenue, at 9:30 o'clock this morning. Rev. R. C. Grandberry will conduct the services, and interment will be in Linwood cemetery. The following gentlemen will act as pallbearers: Messrs. George M. Craig, Taylor Gann, George Peed, John Wynn, W. H. Peddy and J. W. Mitchell. Mrs. Diffley was a member of the Baptist church, and is survived by two children. She was well known in Columbus, and had friends here who deeply regret her death. - The following appeared on 21 May 1911 in The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer:
The funeral of Mrs. Josie Calhoun Difley, whose death in Birmingham Monday was told of in the Ledger yesterday afternoon, took place from the residence of Mrs. Ada Difley, 1821 First avenue, at 9:30 o'clock this morning, the body having arrived in the city last night and being conveyed to Mrs. Difley's home.
The services were conducted by Rev. R. C. Granberry, pastor of the Rose Hill Baptist church, and being attended by quite a large concourse of friends and relatives of the deceased lady. The interment was in Linwood cemetery, the pallbearers being Messrs. George M. Craig, Taylor Gann, George Peed, John Wynn, W. H. Peddy and John Mitchell.
