  • The following appeared on 16 September 2008 in the Hendersonville Times-News: Harry Everett Whittaker, 97, of Hendersonville passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the Elizabeth House. /P/ He was the son of the late Harry Everett Whittaker Sr., and Helen Elizabeth Wright Whittaker. /P/ He was a long time resident of Henderson County and was a veteran of the Army. He was a member of the Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post No. 77 and participated in the Henderson County Honor Guard. /P/ He is survived by two daughters, Merle Warren of Huntsville, Texas, and Rae Taylor and husband, Bruce, of Dallas; three grandsons, Steven Taylor of Dallas, Paul Taylor, of Hudson, Ohio, and James F. Warren Jr., of Austin, Texas, and a granddaughter, Jill Warren, of Washington, D.C. /P/ A memorial service was held on Sept. 6, 2008, at Oakdale Cemetery with the Rev Charles Evans officiating. /P/ Military graveside rites were conducted by the Hedrick-Rhodes V.F.W. Post No. 5206, Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post No. 77 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 14. /P/ Jackson Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
