  • Samuel Ammon and Mary W. Hicks appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Lewisburg, Union County, Pennsylvania. Other members of the household included Levi H. Ammon, Beach C. Ammon, William L. Ammon, Harvey C. Ammon and Candace (?). Also in the household were Artanza? Baker, age 15, and tailor Ira Beaver, age 19, likely an apprentice. Note that in the 1860 census son Beach was employed as a clerk and living with a Beaver family.
  • Mary W. Hicks appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Lewisburg, Union County, Pennsylvania. Other members of the household included Levi H. Ammon, William L. Ammon, Harvey C. Ammon, Mahlon Ammon and Candace (?). Also in the household was widow C. Hicks, age 81, possibly Mary's mother.
  • He was attending school and employed as a carpenter, according to the 1860 census.
  • He served as a corporal in Company E, 51st Pennsylvania Regiment.
  • Levi H. Ammon died on 6 May 1864 in Virginia killed in the Battle of the Wilderness.
