• He enlisted 3 September 1861 as a private in Company L, 102nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, and received a disability discharge on 28 December 1862.
• Thomas Ammon was born circa 1836 in Pennsylvania.
• Susan (?) appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Lewisburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, and also Sarah Dawson, age 30, possibly Susan's sister.. Other members of the household included Thomas Ammon, Samuel H. Ammon.
