- The following appeared in a local newspaper: Mrs. Kate E. Waller, 76, widow of Judge Charles E. Waller, died Sunday afternoon at her residence in Greensboro, Ala. She had been in poor health for several years. Funeral services were to be held this afternoon from St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greensboro at 3 p.m.
Mrs. Waller is widely known throughout Hale County and this section of the state. Judge Charles Waller played a prominent role in county and state politics for many years, serving in the state legislature and being speaker of the House and also probate judge of Hale County. He also made the race for governor at one time in the latter part of the last century.
Rev. J. W. Hayes was to officiate at the final rites this afternoon, with Foster Funeral Home in charge of interment in the Greensboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Waller is survived by three sons, Charles E. Waller, Jr., and Alex E. Waller of Greensboro and Herbert E. Waller of New York City, and one daughter, Mrs. Louis Tucker of Berryville, Va.
Active pallbearers at the services today were C. Y. Stollenwerck, A. I. Selden, Henry Poellnitz, Will Poellnitz, L. J. Tonilson, Winston Withers, Cad Erwin and George Jones.
