• Americus Columbus Mitchell Jr. was born on 18 July 1850 in Alabama.
• He married Susie S. Dawson, daughter of Rev. Thomas Henry Dawson and Anna M. Snider, on 23 October 1873, and Susie's sister Annie married Americus' brother William.
• The following appeared on 19 November 1873 in the Southern Christian Advocate: [Married] In Glennville, Ala., Oct. 23d, 1873, by Rev. J. S. Key, Mr. Americus C. Mitchell, Jr., to Miss Susie S. Dawson, youngest child of the late Rev. Dr. Thos. H. Dawson.
• The following appeared in the Southern Christian Advocate: [Died] Susie Dawson, infant daughter of Americus C. Mitchell, Jr., and Susie Dawson Mitchell, of Glennville, Ala., died on the 29th of August 1874.
• Americus Columbus Mitchell Jr. became a widower at the 6 January 1878 death of his wife Susie S. Dawson.
• Americus Columbus Mitchell Jr. died on 30 June 1902 at age 51 in Eufaula, Barbour County, Alabama.
• The following appeared on 1 July 1902 in The Montgomery Advertiser: (Eufaula, June 30) Americus Mitchell, a prominent and influential citizen, died at his home here this morning at 8:30 o'clock. Mr. Mitchell suffered from some affection of the heart and has not been in robust health for the past year. He was a brother of the late Dr. W. A. Mitchell of this city and moved here from Glennville a number of years ago. He leaves a wife and one son about 10 years old. The funeral will be held from his late residence on Cherry Street tomorrow morning and his remains will be interred here.
