         "Mrs. Minnie Bringhurst requests the honor of your presence at the marriage of her daughter, Katheryn, to Mr. John Minor Ball on the evening of Sept. 4 at 8 o'clock, 1910 Louisiana street, Houston, Tex. At home after Sept 20, Martana, Ky."
         The bride-elect has frequently visited here, the guest of Miss Bettye McDonald.
  • He married Katherine Bringhurst, daughter of John Henry Bringhurst and Jane Minerva Abercrombie, on 4 September 1907 in Houston, Harris County, Texas.
  • The following appeared on 8 September 1907 in The Galveston Daily News: (Houston) Miss Katherine Bringhurst and Mr. John Minor Ball were married Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Minnie Bringhurst. Rev. Peter Gray Sears read the marriage service.
         Miss Bessie Lidstone sang "All for You,' Miss Lillian Lidstone giving the accompaniment. Then Miss Vermeille Sears rendered the Lohengrin wedding music by which the bridal party entered. Following the minister came the ribbon bearers, Miss Jolly Abercrombie and Master Clarence Oliphant, both in white. The bridegroom entered next with his best man, Mr. Tom Helm. Then came Miss Arabella Gibbons with Mr. W. C. Burchardt, Miss Vesta Ewing with Mr. C. C. Lewis, Miss Lelia Fortenberry with Mr. J. B. Thomas. Mrs. Sidney Lister, matron of honor, immediately preceded the maid of honor, Miss Fannie Bringhurst, who in turn was followed by the bride and her brother, Mr. John Henry Bringhurst.          The punch table was presided over by Miss Alma Cheatham of Paris and Miss Gladys Ewing. Mrs. Bringhurst was assisted in receiving by Mrs. George W. Foster, Mrs. Clarence Oliphant, Mrs. Douglass Campbell, Mrs. W. G. Sears, Mrs. C. A. Abercrombie.
         Mr. and Mrs. Ball left Wednesday evening for San Antonio and returned Friday en route to Cincinnati, Ohio, their future home.

  • He was interred at Oakwood Cemetery, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.
  • The following appeared on 16 June 1929 in the Laredo Times: Funeral services for John M. Ball, assistant freight traffic manager of the Missouri Pacific Lines, who died at Houston last Monday night, were held in Fort Worth on Wednesday.
         Deceased was well known in Laredo, where he visited frequently on business, and especially during the onion shipping season each year.
