- The following appeared on 10 October 1972 in The Galveston Daily News: (Houston) Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Reece, 79, of Houston, a former Galveston resident, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Carl Barnes Funeral Home of Houston.
Mrs. Reece died Thursday morning in Heights Hospital.
She was a member of the Baptist Church, and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church while residing in Galveston.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Ida Early of Conroe and Mrs. Sarah Bonner and Mrs. Myrtle Heard of Houston, and two brothers, Howard Baltrip of Houston and Nathan Baltrip of Hitchcock. - The following appeared on 17 November 1972 in The Galveston Daily News: (Hitchcock) Funeral services for Nathaniel D. Baltrip, 65, a Hitchcock resident the past 19 years, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the New Macedonia Baptist Church, the Rev. A. L. Dickson officiating.
Burial will follow in Mainland Memorial Cemetery, Hitchcock.
Mr. Baltrip died Wednesday in the Alvin Convalescent Center. He was born Jan. 27, 1907, in Willis.
He was a member of the new Macedonia Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Baltrip of Hitchcock; two sons, Nathaniel Robert Baltrip and Michael Wayne Baltrip, both of Hitchcock; a brother, Howard Baltrip of Houston; and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Heard and Mrs. Sarah Bonner, both of Houston and Mrs. Ida Early of Conroe.
Pallbearers will be Elisha Bryant, S. H. Deadrick, Ernest Mills, Steve Chatman, Louis Anderson and A. Wright.
A wake service will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Lundy Mortuary. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. - Myrtle Baltrip died on 25 September 2006 at age 97.
