- She married Murphy, son of Ben and Feraba, circa 1873.
- Murphy and Ellen appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Walker County, Texas. Other members of the household included Elijah Harris, James Albert Harris and Deanie Harris. Also enumerated in the household but struck out with the notation, "Dead," are Murphy's father Ben and an 8-year-old named James Black identified as "grandson."

- Her husband Murphy became a widower at her death.
