Other members of the household included Francis Marion Thomason, James Burke Thomason, Benjamin F. Thomason, George W. Thomason, Jabez S. Thomason, Mary Thomason and Ella Thomason. - He joined the Danville Mounted Riflemen on 4 May 1861, and on 29 March 1862 enlisted by John E. George in Danville, he joined Company B, 24th Texas Cavalry, CSA, as a private under Captain Samuel D. Wooldridge.
- He married Elizabeth M. Fowler, daughter of David Ramsey Fowler and Nancy Jane McCracken, on 24 August 1864.
- Francis Marion Thomason died on 16 December 1876 at age 33 in Montgomery County, Texas.
