- Samuel D. Weisinger was born on 27 June 1818 in Lexington District, South Carolina.
- He married Mary Ann Rebecca Weisinger, daughter of Matthias Weisinger and Leah Caroline Hornsby, circa 1841 in Dallas County, Alabama, first cousins.
- Samuel D. Weisinger and Mary Ann Rebecca Weisinger appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Walker County, Texas, enumerated next to Sam's brother Michael.
- He was a farmer, according to the 1860 census.
- On Friday, 20 January 1860, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Packed 9 bales of cotton for Mr Wisenger."
- Samuel D. Weisinger became a widower at the 8 February 1860 death of his wife Mary Ann Rebecca Weisinger.
- Widower Sam Weisinger and his children have yet to be found in the 1860 census.
- On Friday, 2 November 1860, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Packed 11 Bales of cotton for Sam Wisenger" (at $4 per bale).
- He married Nancy Ann Weatherly, daughter of Jessie Weatherly and Lucinda (?), on 6 March 1861 in Walker County, Texas.
- On 4 May 1861, Sam Weisinger joined the Danville Mounted Riflemen, a home guard unit formed under Capt. S. D. Wooldridge. There is no record of his serving in the regular Confederate army, likely because of his age.
- On Thursday, 9 January 1862, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Packed 19 Bales Mr S.D. Wisinger cotton. . ."
- The following appeared on 12 June 1869 in Flake's Bulletin: The following appointments to civil office are hereby made: . . . Montgomery county -- E. C. Chambers, justice of the peace, precinct No. 6, vice J. L. Nugent disqualified; J. W. McDonald, justice of the peace, precinct No. 1, vice John E. George, disqualified; W. S. Rogers, county treasurer, vice Wm. C. Hooker, disqualified; L. W. Wern, James W. Combs, A. A. Johnson and Samuel Weisinger, county commissioners, vice J. H. Price, Ivy McNeese, A. Richards and John A. Glover, disqualified.
