- The following appeared on 24 February 1959 in The Birmingham News: Mrs. E. W. (Nannie Seay) Pegues, age 90, of 1228 N. 31st St., passed away Tuesday morning at a local hospital. Survived by 2 daughters, Mr. J. Preston Rogers and Mrs. E. M. Elliott, Jr., both of Birmingham; 2 grandsons, Dr. James P. Rogers, of El Paso, Tex; Edgar Elliott, III, of Birmingham; 1 granddaughter, Mrs. W. J. Connell, Jr., of Auburn, Ala; 1 sister, Mrs. T. Brooks, of Birmingham; 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Johns-Ridout's West Chapel, the Rev. John Turner officiating, interment Elmwood Cemetery.
