- The following appeared on 31 July 1877 in the Southern Christian Advocate: About a year and a half ago the writer attended at marriage at the residence of Col. B. F. Pegues, in Marlboro county, S. C. The bride of the occasion was the Colonel's daughter, Miss Harriet S. J., who was married to Rev. E. T. Hodges of the South Carolina Conference. She died July 2. One Tuesday afternoon we met at New Hope Church, where sleep the remains of her grandparents.
