  • The following appeared on 3 February 1950 in The Dallas Morning News: Thomas Burton Rhodes, 67, father of Coke Rhodes and Tom Rhodes of Dallas, died Thursday of a heart attack at Fort Stockton, Pecos County. Rhodes was vice-president of the Pecos County State Bank until his retirement two years ago. /P/ Funeral services will be held in Dallas, with arrangements to be announced later. His sons went to Fort Stockton Thursday to bring the body here. /P/ Rhodes was born in Ontario Province, Canada, and came to the United States when he was 21. He had lived in Texas since 1935. His wife, who died in 1925, was Miss Etoile Horne, member of a long-time Texas family. /P/ Survivors besides his sons are six grandchildren, and a brother and two sisters in Canada.
