William Hillman Wood and Elizabeth Ann Irvine appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Montgomery County, Texas. Other members of the household included Robert L. Wood, Mary Emily Wood, Robert H. Wood and Lucy F. Henderson. Also in the household was Mary E. Wood (age 12), whose parents are not yet known.
On Saturday, 28 August 1858, Green Wood recorded in his plantation daily account book: "Sent off by Robert Wood 7 Bales of cotton No. 16 to 22. Sent off by George Sessums 5 Bales of cotton No. 23 to 27."
