• The following appeared on 25 May 1870 in The Sun: Alanson Robinson, Esq., for some years one of the leading men in financial and railroad circles of New York, died in that city on Saturday evening, in the 54th year of his age, after a brief illness. At the time of his demise he was a director in the Chicago and Northwestern and the Lake Shore Railway Companies. He was the founder of the banking and stockbrokerage firm of Robinson, Cox & Co.
