- The following appeared on 16 May 1859 in the Daily Confederation: Gone to Georgia -- One of our good citizens, Mr. John G. Abercrombie, left our city last week with his family for Columbus, Ga., where, we understand, he intends residing. We, in common with our citizens, regret much his leaving here, as in his departure we lose the company of a true and faithful citizen and an esteemed friend. However, he has our best wishes for his future happiness and prosperity, and hope a long life may attend both him and family. --Pensacola Observer.
