Also in the household is a son William, age 1. It appears that he died before 1853 and they named a later son William. Margaret Lacy (age 58), possibly is Elizabeth's mother.

• Alexander C. Hamilton and Elizabeth Lacey appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in Madison Crossroads, Madison County, Alabama, and also Mahala J. Hamilton, age 3, who may have died before 1866 and a later daughter given the same name, or possibly (but not likely) her age is ten years off in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. This would seem most unlikely if not for the apparent error in the birth year (1857) on her grave marker. And there is also the confusion of the Tennessee/Alabama birthplace. Margaret Lacy, age 70, was also in the household.. Other members of the household included Hannah J. Hamilton, Martin Adolphus Hamilton, William Hamilton, Joseph Hamilton, John Hamilton and Alexander Hamilton.

Other members of the household included William Hamilton, Joseph Hamilton, John Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton, Henry R. Hamilton, Felix Hamilton and Mahalah J. Hamilton.
• He was a farmer, according to the 1870 census.
• His wife Elizabeth Lacey became a widow at his death.
• Alexander C. Hamilton died between 1870 and 1880.
