  • Peter Vanorden and Marcia Pegues appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1840 in Perry County, Alabama. Other (counted but unnamed) members of the household apparently included Peter G. Vanorden, Abraham Vanorden and Lucy W. Vanorden. Also in the household were one male age 10-14, one male age 20-29, one female age 10-14, and 31 slaves.
  • Marcia Pegues became a widow at the 11 July 1846 death of her husband Peter Vanorden.
  • Marcia Pegues appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1850 in Woodville Beat, Perry County, Alabama, near the household of Marcia's sister Ann Pope. Marcia's daugter Lucy has yet to be found in the 1850 census.
