Herman Enger was born March 16, 1906, the son of Olaus and Dina Enger, in Enger Township, near Hatton, where he grew up and attended school. He married Lorraine Schlicht Oct. 21, 1947, in Hatton. They farmed and lived in Enger Township until 1963, when they retired and moved into Hatton.
Survivors are his wife; sons, Dallas, Albany, Ore., and Scott, Hatton; daughters, Roberta (Mrs. Nabil) Makaren, Bagdad, Ariz., and Susan (Mrs. Mervin) Binnall. Hatton; stepsons, Roger and Dwight Frank, both of Los Angeles; 13 grandchildren; brother, Olaf, Hatton; and sisters, Gustava Berg, Hatton, and Gertrude Christianson, St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Oliver, Melvin, Edwin, Fredrick and Carl, and one sister, Ella Berg.
