There was a general assembly of the family in the evening. In the afternoon Mrs. Karl and daughter, Miss Minnie, attended the wedding of Miss Kittie Goodman, who has been a frequent visitor of theirs in Carmel.

- Wilhelmina Foatz died on 14 January 1917 at age 55 in Manhattan, New York, at the Radium Sanitarium.
- She was interred at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Brewster, Putnam County, New York.

She was in the Radium Sanitarium undergoing treatment for cancer. Her case was hopeless and her suffering intense when she left Carmel a few weeks ago to receive the treatment. The physicians then said that her death was only a matter of days or weeks at the most.
The body was brought back to Carmel on Monday, to the home she loved so well to await the funeral which took place on Wednesday. High Mass for the repose of the soul was said in the Catholic church by Father Murray, her pastor, and the services were attended by a large congregation and the interment was made in the St. Lawrence cemetery at Brewster, by the side of her husband, Jacob Karl, who died in the same month two years and strangly too, from a cancer.
She was born in Germany on December 29, 1861, and came to America with her parents when she was only seven years old, and was married in New York city.
Mrs. Karl came to Carmel with her family about twenty years ago and Mr. Karl opened a barber shop on Fair street, which he ran continuously in Carmel until his death. They had three children, George A. Karl and Mrs. Minnie Cole of New York, and Miss Isabel Karl, who has lived with her mother. Isabel was the only child born in Carmel.
It was about eight years ago that they built their home on lower Gleneida avenue, where she has since very successfully conducted a dressmaking establishment, and who socially made friends readily and kept them, so her loss will be greatly felt among a large circle of acquaintances and friends as well as by her family and among her relatives. - The following appeared on 24 December 1941 in The Putnam County Courier: (Carmel) Miss Isabelle Karl spent the weekend with her mother in New York.
