Frederick Hugh Shipston

  • The following appeared on 29 December 1958 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shipston, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday at their home on Spruce Ave.
         Married Dec. 23, 1908 at the Epiphany Church, Lockport and Main Sts, Mr. and Mrs. Shipston have lived in this city all their lives. Mr. Shipston is a retired city employe.
         Joining their parents for the celebration were to couples three sons Frederick Shipston, this city; Clark P. Shipston, Akron, Ohio, and John M. Shipston, Lewiston. Also attending were the couples five grandchildren.
         Mr. Shipston, a native of this city has lived here for 80 years. Mrs. Shipston is a native of Fonthill, Ont.
  • The following appeared on 21 June 1961 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Mrs. Mary Edith Shipston, 72, of 378 Spruce Ave., died today (June 21, 1961) at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital after a prolonged illness.
         Mrs. Shipston was born in Pelham township, Ont. and had been a resident of this city for the last 50 years. She was a member of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, Grandmothers Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the Spanish-American War Veterans, and the Dudley-Donnelly Relief Corps.
         She is survived by her husband, Fred Shipston, this city; three sons, Hugh and John Shipston, this city, and Price Shipston of Akron, Ohio; a brother, John Smith, this city; a sister, Mrs. William Cygnor, East Aurora and seven grandchildren.
         Funeral services will be held at the Gridley Funeral Home Friday at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. John E. Wickenden. Burial will be in Fonthill Cemetery, Fonthill, Ontario.
