  • The following appeared on 24 December 1908 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: A quiet but pretty wedding of yesterday was that of Miss Edith Smith of Saint Johns, Ont., to Mr. Frederick Shipston of Whitney avenue, in the Church of the Epiphany, the Reverend Coleman Bryam officiating. The bride wore her traveling suit of blue broadcloth with a large white picture hat. Her attendant, Miss Hall of Saint Johns, was attired in a brown tailored suit with hat to match. Mr. George Shipston acted as best man. After the ceremony an elaborate wedding supper was served at the home of the groom's mother, Mrs. Thomas Shipston, in Whitney avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Shipston left last evening for a wedding trip in Canadian cities, and on their return, will reside on Spruce avenue, this city.

         Mr. Shipston, a native of this city has lived here for 80 years. Mrs. Shipston is a native of Fonthill, Ont.

         Mrs. Shipston was born in Pelham township, Ont. and had been a resident of this city for the last 50 years. She was a member of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, Grandmothers Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the Spanish-American War Veterans, and the Dudley-Donnelly Relief Corps.
         She is survived by her husband, Fred Shipston, this city; three sons, Hugh and John Shipston, this city, and Price Shipston of Akron, Ohio; a brother, John Smith, this city; a sister, Mrs. William Cygnor, East Aurora and seven grandchildren.
         Funeral services will be held at the Gridley Funeral Home Friday at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. John E. Wickenden. Burial will be in Fonthill Cemetery, Fonthill, Ontario.
