- The following appeared on 21 February 1956 in the Sheboygan Press: Julius Kestell, 70, died at his Elkhart Lake home Monday. A prominent Elkhart Lake citizen, he was born in the town of Germantown Sept, 22, 1885, and at the age of 8 came to the Elkhart area with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George Kestell. He was a director of the Farmer's Mercantile Supply Co. served several terms as a trustee of the village of Elkhart Lake and for 22 years was custodian of the Elkhart Lake High School. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. George Catholic Church, a charter member of the Elkhart Lake City Band and an honorary member of the Elkhart Lake Fire Department.
He is survived by two son, Wallace of Elkhart Lake and Leland of West DePere; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jeanette) Kurtz of Milwaukee and Joan of Elkhart Lake; a sister, Mrs. Frank Rollman of Denver, Colo., and four grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death May 6, 1953. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at the St. George Catholic Church. The Rev. John H. Goebel will be celebrant of the requiem mass and will officiate at the burial in the Elkhart Cemetery.
