  • The following appeared on 1 July 1922 in a local newspaper: Michael Nauth, one of the well-known former residents of the town of Rhine, Sheboygan county, passed to his reward on Saturday morning, at his home in Elkhart Lake, after a lingering illness of several years with cancer of the stomach. Decedent was born December 4, 1856, in the town of Rhine, where he grew to manhood. He was married in 1882 to Mary Kissinger, and the couple settled on a farm in that town, where they resided until 1907, when they disposed of the place and moved to Elkhart Lake to live in retirement. Mr. Nauth is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Julius Kestell of Elkhart Lake, Anna and Ella at home. Also two brothers, Geo. Nauth of Kiel and Daniel Nauth of Kansas City, Mo., and two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Hecker of Plymouth and Mrs. Carl Schueler of Elkhart Lake. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from the home, Rev. Zeh of the Ev. church officiating. Interment in the cemetery, one mile east of Elkhart Lake.
  • The following appeared in a local newspaper: Mrs. Carl Schueler was called to her reward at her home in Elkhart Lake on Tuesday evening at 11:15, after a lingering illness. Deceased nee Friederika Nauth, was born in the town of Rhine, Nov. 4, 1858. She was married to Carl Schueler in 1881, and the couple resided on a farm in the town of Rhine. Mr. Schueler preceded her in death 19 years ago. Four years after the death of her husband Mrs. Schueler moved to Elkhart Lake, where she has since resided. The four surviving children are: Mrs. F. Brieske of New Holstein, Mrs. Henry Brieske and Grover Schueler of Rhine and Carl Schueler of Stevens Point. Two sons, Philip and Edward, died some years ago. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Carl Hecker of Plymouth. Two brothers, George Nauth of Kiel and Michael Nauth of Elkhart Lake died during the past year. Seven grandchildren also survive her. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the home, Rev. A. Hamann officiating. Interment in the Elkhart Lake cemetery.
