- The following appeared on 15 December 1904 in the Oswego Daily Times: Mrs. Hannah Kern, aged seventy-five, who resided with her daughter, Mrs. James Kane, 51 Varick Street, died suddenly at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Kern has been in her usual health and about the time mentioned she went into a bedroom and sat in a chair. Soon after her daughter heard her fall and going to the bedroom found her mother on the floor dead. Coroner Vowinkel? was called and attributed death to apoplexy. Mrs. Kern was a highly respected resident of the Seventh Ward and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Church. She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Sister Ignatia of Albany, Mrs. Joseph Mass, Mrs. James Kane, Mrs. Joseph Houth, Joseph and George Kern of Oswego.
