He had formerly been a machinist at the Ames Iron Works and had since retired. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. /P/ He is survived by two sisters, Miss Louise J. Kern of Oswego and Mrs. Willard Alice Wilson of Buffalo; a niece, a grand nephew and two grand nieces also survive. /P/ Services at the Dain Funeral Home will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Bruce Schrader will officiate. /P/ Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. /P/ Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Kern, a former resident of 10 Varick St., died at the Harr-Wood Nursing Home early this morning. /P/ Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha Ott Kern. She attended local schools and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. /P/ Miss Kern had been employed at the American Woolen Mills in Fulton foir 30 years until its closing. She was later employed at Columbia Mills, Breneman Hartshorn Co. and the Samson United. She was a sister of the late Alice Kern Wilson of Buffalo, and a brother, Clarence 'Pete' Kern, now deceased. /P/ She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Beatrice Hoffman of Buffalo; a grandnephew, David Hoffman of Denver, Colorado, and two grandnieces, Miss Joanne Hoffman of Chicago, Ill., and Miss Judith Hoffman of Buffalo. /P/ Private services will be held at the Dain funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. /P/ In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Kessler Memorial Fund, Grace Lutheran Church, or to the charity of one's choice.
