Services will be held from the home, 1606 Eighth Street, Friday, May 5, at 2 o'clock and 2:30 from the Zion Lutheran Church, Michigan and Tenth street, Rev. Arthur Schmoyer, D.D., officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
  • The following appeared on 7 May 1964 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Melchior (Mike) Zeifang, 91, member of a pioneer family in Niagara Falls, died Wednesday (May 6, 1964) in Thomasville, Ga.
         Mr. Zeifang, a native of Niagara Falls, lived in this city all his life before moving to Georgia four years ago.
         He served as a patrolman in the Niagara Falls Police Department for 17 years and had operated the Zeifang Machine Shop in this city for 30 years.
         He was one of the city's last Spanish American War veterans and one of the few surviving members of the Exempt Firemen. From 1928 to 1932 he was a member of the Niagara County Board of Supervisors. He also was a member of the I.O.O.F. for more than 50 years.
         Surviving are his wife, Emma V. Zeifang, Thomasville; a son, Melville Zeifang, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Stevens, both of this city; a brother, Frederick Zeifang, Fremont, Ohio, and four grandchildren.
         Funeral services and burial were held today in Thomasville.

Our Lady of Lebanon Church was the setting for the noon double ring nuptials joining the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melville J. Zeifant, 446 12th St., and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cadille, 2586 Jerauld Ave.
         The bride was given in marriage by her father. . . .
         Miss Melissa Zeifang, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. . . .
         Similarly attired were the bridesmaids, Miss Julie Bellonte, Miss Maria Nanula, Miss Joanne Cale, Miss Mary Buckley, and Hannah Buckley, flower girl.
         Best man was Walter Campbell. Ushers were Daniel Buckley, David Cadille, David Chiodo and Daniel Giordano.
         An afternoon rception was held at the Alps Restaurant.
         After a wedding trip to Canada, the couple will reside in Fayetteville, N. C.

  • The following appeared on 7 March 1990 in The Buffalo News: Melville J. Zeifang, a former self-employed machinist and a city and county employee, died Tuesday (March 6, 1990) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a short illness.
         Zeifang, 84, of 12th Street, was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. He had operated the Niagara Machine Shop at Jerauld Avenue and Hyde Park Boulevard from the 1920s through the 1960s.
         He also was an inspector in the Niagara Falls Public Works Department from the late 1960s to 1973. He then worked as a Niagara County Court clerk until he retired in 1977.
         Survivors include his wife, the former Colette Doyle; four daughters, Gretchen Balogh of Niagara Falls, Ont., Margaret Anne Wojick, Christina Cadille and Melissa Henwood, and nine grandchildren.
         A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 1120 Niagara St., following prayers at 8:30 in the Rhoney Funeral Home, 1124 Ontario Ave. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Pekin.
