- The following appeared on 14 November 1932 in The Olean Times-Herald: Funeral services for Walter H. Simpson were conducted at the family residence on North Second Street, Saturday afternoon at three-thirty o'clock. The Very Rev. Joseph Groves, rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, officiated. Burial was in Mount View Cemetery.
The pallbearers were W. W. Murphy, E. M. Johnson, Elmer W. Miller, James Kelsey, Robert H. Jewell and Emory B. Pratt. [:CR;] Mrs. C. W. Perry and Miss Elizabeth Brown of South Dayton attended the services. - The following appeared on 7 March 1940 in the Silver Creek News-Times: (South Dayton) Thomas P. Simpson, fifty-nine years old, passed away at his home in Meadville Friday morning, March 1, after an illness of five weeks. He was born in South Dayton January 23, 1881, and lived here until he was sixteen years old. Then he went to Buffalo where he learned to be a steam-fitter, which occupation he followed all his live. Ten years ago he moved to Meadville and became connected with the American Viscose Co., which position he held at the time of his death.
He married Miss Tirza Brennan and one son was born to them, Robert A. Simpson of Ogdensburgh. He is survived by his wife, one son and one grandson, of Ogdensburgh, and three sisters, Mrs. Clayton W. Perry, Mrs. Roy E. Hale and Mrs. Chauncey H. Brown of South Dayton.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Clayton W. Perry, the Rev. E. V. Rupert officiating, with interment in the family lot in Villenova cemetery.
Mr. Simpson was a member of Hiram Lodge No. 105, F. & A. M., in Buffalo. - The following appeared on 7 March 1940 in the Silver Creek News-Times: Mrs. Clayton W. Perry was called to Meadville last Friday by the death of her brother, Thomas P. Simpson. . . . Robert Simpson of Ogdensburg was a week end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton W. Perry.

Thomas R. Simpson. One of the first persons to locate in South Dayton after the advent of the railroad was Thomas R. Simpson. He was born in Pittsburg, Pa., March 10, 1855. When fourteen years of age he commenced to learn the trade of carriage maker and wood worker. He worked at this until Auigust 1875, when he came to Pine Valley September 16, purchased and erected a building which he occupied as a home and a shop combined. He did a prosperous business until 1893, when he accepted a lucrative position as a general salesman for Austin Westner Co. of Chicago, manufacturers of all kinds of street and road making machinery, contractors' supplies, etc. Mr. Simpson has the territory comprising the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota and is a very energetic and successful salesman, in fact, one of the firms best representatives. He married December 22 1875, Elizabeth Appenheimer of Buffalo. Their children are Arthur R., born July 22, 1877, he died February 20, 1878; Jessie F., born September 26, 1878 (see educational); Thomas P., born January 23, 1881; Ruth A., born May 29, 1888; Agnes, born March 11, 1895. Mr. Simpson is an enthusiastic republican and while an active resident of the town, was a potent factor in all political campaigns.
