- The following appeared on 13 November 1925 in The Patriot & Free Press: (Contributed by Jackson Hill Correspondent) The whole community of Jackson Hill was saddened by the sudden closing of the young, useful and noble life of Walter Cleghorn. Although he had been in poor helath for over a year, his host of friends had hoped for his recovery and believed that he was improving, when he was suddenly stricken down Tuesday, Nov. 3, while caring for his sheep.
Everything was done to save him, and his faithful nurse, Mrs. Daisy Smith, worked hard, but he was wanted for higher realms where suffering is no more and loved ones are not separated. Walter was a noble boy, loving and devoted to his parents. He was always happy and contented to stay at home, and look after the farm work. While he has suffered in the past year as none realized but those with him, yet every day he carried the burden of farm tasks, even to the last. The entire community joins the correspondent in giving our heartfelt sympathy to the parents, brothers and sisters in their great loss.
