Ferguson, Texas political power for the past 20 years, appealed for "unity in our ranks," as he was elected Texas Democratic national committeeman today by the state Democratic executive committee.
He was the only one nominated and was elected by acclamation.
Loud cheers and prolonged handclapping followed Ferguson's elevation to the national position. He succeeds Jed C. Adams of Dallas, resigned.
The Ferguson-controlled state committee also named J. K. Brim of Sulphur Springs its chairman, succeeding Maury Hughes of Dallas, and by a vote of 19 to 11 tabled a resolution ordering a repeal referendum at the state primary elections next July.
Ed. J. Hussion, Houston, secretary of the committee, was elected vice chairman, succeeding Brim. Miss Bertha Kunz, Houston, was named secretary. She has been Hussion's assistant. . . . - The following appeared on 27 July 1938 in the Pacific Union Recorder: Apolonia Kunz was born in Suspenion Bridge, N. Y., Oct. 4 [sic], 1857, and died in Eagle Rock, Calif., June 20, 1938. She was a faithful member of the Eagle Rock church. She was married to John Kunz in 1875. Brother Kunz passed away in 1934. After his death Sister Kunz went from place to place with her daughter, Lona Brosi, as Sister Brosi assisted in evangelistic efforts held by Elder H. M. Richards. She lived for others. She leaves a son, John Kunz, two daughters, Lona Brosi and Bertha Kunz, one grandchild, a sister, a brother, other relatives and many friends. They mourn, but know that their loved one awaits the Master's call in the resurrection.

Colonial Mortuary, with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Brosi, who lived at 2351 Ridgeview Ave., Eagle Rock, died Thursday. She had taught in the Southern California Conference of Seventh Day Adventists since her arrival in this state 19 years ago. She leaves a brother and sister, J. E. and Bertha Kunz of Houston, Tex., and an aunt Mrs. Mary Derksen of Los Angeles.
