- Mr. R. A. Davis was born to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Davis in Cuero, Texas. He was converted at an early age and joined Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Cuero, Texas.
Mr. Davis met and married Miss Forest Parks in 1936 and to this union three children were born, his son preceded him in death.
Bro. Davis served as a Deacon for 31 years. Upon moving to Corpus Christi he united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, St. Metthew Church and Calvary First Baptist Church where he served 21 years until his health failed him.
Survivors are: his wife; his mother, Mrs. Louella Davis of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Mosley of Kingsville, Texas, and Mrs. Alice Sanders of Wichita, Kansas; four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Steens of Austin, Texas, Mrs. Emma Hill of Ft. Worth, Mrs. Estella White, Mrs. Mildred Cox; three brothers, William, Clarence and Cornell Davis all of San Antonio; four grandsons and a host of relatives and friends. - Estella Louise Davis became a widow at the 13 April 1986 death of her husband Morris White.
- The following appeared on 19 April 1990 in the San Antonio Register: Impressive rites were held for Bro. William Davis at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. R. L. Archield officiating.
Davis was an active member of his church, having served on the Usher Board No. 2 and served as one of the custodians.
He served in the Army from 1942 to '46, and united in holy matrimony to Florine Lewis in 1946. They were the parents of two children, William Leo and Renee Cecil Davis.
Davis, who was born to Amos and Lue Ella (Williams) Davis in Cuero, Texas, succumbed on April 8.
He was the first of nine children born on May 18, 1910.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florine Davis; two children, William and Renee; three grandchildren, Terry, Elisha and Alisalyn; brother, Cornell Davis; four sisters, Mildred Cox and Stella White, San Antonio; Mattie Steen, Austin; and Emma Hill, Ft. Forth; one aunt, Mrs. Beatrice Williams.
Interment was in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery and arrangements by the Lewis Funeral Home. - Estella Louise Davis died on 14 February 2004 at age 79.
