He was born near the city of Mentz, in the Grand Duchy of Hesse Darmstadt, and came to Buffalo in 1840, just forty years ago. He lived here until a few years since when he bought a farm on the Lancaster plank road, where he resided until the time of his death. He was well-to-do in the world, not only in physical things but in the respect and affection of his friends. He was father of Mr. Fred. Held of the Buffalo Demokrat. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon.
- Research Note: It appears that Conrad Heldt was not Conrad Held born in Walsheim in 1826, son of Christian Held and Maria Katharina Pfeffer, nor was this the family residing for many years in Erie County, New York: Christian and Katharina Held.
