His memorial graveside service will be Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ashton Cemetery near Ashton. Reverend Jon Damsaka will officiate.
Clarence Barton Young was born October 19, 1931 in Ashton, SD to Clarence and Florence (Clifford) Young. He grew up in the Ashton area and graduated from Ashton high School in 1948. Barton married Midge Badger October 19, 1950 at Webster. They farmed in the Ashton/Athol area before moving to Spearfish, for a short time, where Barton worked in the saw mill. Barton worked at SDDC-Redfield for twenty-eight years as a dorm parent and in the laundry department.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Ashton Volunteer Fire Department.
Barton is survived by his wife Midge of Ashton, his children: Greg (Sandra) Young of Hartford, SD; Peggy Jansen of Aberdeen, SD; David (Kathy) Young of Ft. Pierre, SD; Steve (Judy) Young of Kalama, WA; Clyle Young of Ashton and Delila (Jerry) Jungwirth of Zell, SD. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin and his sister Lola Dunker.
