- The following appeared on 24 September 1890 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: The funeral of the late John C. Mayle took place from the residence of his parents, No. 313 Third street, at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. George F. Rosenmoller, rector of St. Peter's Church. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, most noticeable among them being a handsome fire-hydrant, from the members of the Mayle Hose Company. The bearers were selected from this Company. The Cataract, Niagara and Mayle Hose Companies marched in the funeral procession, which was very large. The interment was made in the family plot in Oakwood.
