John L. McClintock, pioneer Kansan, died yesterday morning at the home of his son, O. P. M. McClintock, 1311 Buchanan, at the age of 92 years. Death was not unexpected, as Mr. McClintock has been under the care of a trained nurse since December, 1916. Mr. McClintock is survived by two sons, O. P. M. McClintock, who for twenty-two years was principal of Clay school, and for the past four years principal of both Clay and Harrison schools; W. S. McClintock, of Kansas City, and by a daughter, Mrs. W. H. McCoy, of Fairbury, Neb.
         Mr. McClintock was born in Guileford county, N. C., February 12, 1827. In 1836 his parents moved to the wilderness of Delaware County, Ind., where his young manhood was spent, enduring the hardships of pioneer life.
         He served five years as county auditor of Delaware county, Inc., and seven years as the president of the board of education of Muncie, Inc. In 1880 he brought his family to Miami county, Kan., and in 1882 he came to Shawnee county, where he has lived since.
         The McClintock family dates back many generations in North Carolina. The grandfather of John McClintock, John Starrett, was in the Colonial army, fought in the Revolutionary war against the invasion of North Carolina by Lord Cornwallis. He eventually was taken prisoner by the English general. For refusing to take the oath of allegiance to England at the time of his capture, Starrett was shot and left for dead, but recovered.
         The funeral of John McClintock will be held from the home of O. P. M. McClintock, 1311 Buchanan, Monday at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the Topeka cemetery. . His death was officially witnessed by Ella F. McClintock.
