  • The following appeared on 8 July 1926 in The Portville Review: Thomas A. Simpson, assistant to the managing directors of the United States Shipping Board at Washington, died suddenly July 6th at his home in Washington, D. C. Mr. Simpson was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Simpson of Olean and left Olean about twenty years ago. At one time he was secretary of the American Mexican commission settling various claims. [:CR;]      Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife and one one; one sister, Mrs. C. W. Stackhouse of Olean; two brothers, William R. Simpson of Marcushook, Pa., and Walter H. Simpson of Denver, Colo.
  • The following appeared on 9 July 1926 in The Bradford Era: The body of Thomas A. Simpson, whose death occurred in Washington, D. C., Tuesday, will arrive in Olean this morning. The interment will take place Saturday. Mr. Simpson was secretary of the United States of America General Claims Commission and has resided in Washington for the past two years. He is survived by his widow, Mabel Markham Simpson, and one son, Thomas A. Simpson, Jr., and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Simpson of Olean. Miss Jane Markham of Congress street, of this city, will leave this morning for Olean to meet the funeral party.
