  • The following appeared on 12 November 1917 in The Oil City Derrick: (Bradford, Pa.) The death of Mrs. Jennie A., wife of J. H. Markham, occurred at the family home, No. 151 Congress street, Friday morning at 9:50 o'clock, after in illness of about three weeks. On October 16 Mrs. Markham was taken ill while down town, accompanied by her daughter, Miss Camille. She was taken to her home and since that time has been in a very serious condition.
         Deceased, who was 69 years of age, had been a resident of Bradford for the past 40 years, coming here with her husband in the days of the early oil excitement. Mrs. Markham was held in the highest esteem by a large circle of friends who are grieved at the news of her death. She was a member of St. Bernard's church and very active in charitable services.
         Surviving are her husband, J. H. Markham, and nine children, the Misses Frances Markham, of Washington, D. C; Lillian, Jane and Camille, of this city; Mrs. G. A. Simpson and Mrs. Winifred Washabaugh, of Tulsa; John Markham, Jr., and Robert Emmet Markham, of Tulsa, and Walter Markham, of Washington, D. C.
