Mr. Masser, who had lived in Niagara Falls for the last 34 years, was formerly a co-operator of Masser's Canvas Fabricators, 726 Linwood Ave.
Born in Smethport, Pa., he was a graduate of Clearfield (Pa.) High School. He attended Allegheny College in Pennsylvania and the New York Institute of Photography and studies stagecraft design at the University of Buffalo.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations and received the asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon, with three bronze stars, and the Philippines Liberation ribbon.
Mr. Masser at the time of his death was a Boy Scout Roundtable commissioner and in April 1967 he received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest in scouting. He also received the Wood Badge Award.
Mr. Masser formerly worked as a litho camera man for the old Gillman Fanfold Co.
In the late 1950s Mr. Masser took over management of the Masser Canvas Fabricators from his father and operated it in partnership with his brother, Paul Masser until his illness.
Mr. Masser was a former member of the Niagara Power Squadron and was a member of Niagara Chapter No. 200, Royal Arch Masons, Webster Lodge No. 538, F&AM, Webster, N.Y., and Niagara Falls Lodge No. 81, IOOF.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Irma D. E. Masser; his father, Frederick J. Masser, both of this city; his brother, Paul Masser, and a sister, Mrs. William Hughes, Lewiston.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cobler's Funeral home, with Rev. Canon Richard B. Townsend, of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family said contributions to the Roswell Park Memorial Institute or to St. Peter's Church would be acceptable as tributes.
