  • The following appeared on 4 November 1958 in the Buffalo Courier-Express: Mrs. Esther Anderson Stacye, 65, a pioneer business woman in Genesee County, died yesterday at the home of her son, Royal Anderson of 1250 Windermere Blvd, Eggertsville.
         She was born Esther Helberg Lederer in Buffalo and grew up here. She and Claus Julius Anderson were married here in 1911. He died four years later.
         Mrs. Anderson was married during World War I to Stillman G. Stacye, whose family operated Stacye's Corner Store in East Pembroke. The couple was divorced in the early 1920s but not before Mrs.Stacye had taken over operation of the store, which served as ticket office and waiting room for the earliest Buffalo-Batavia bus line.
         In 1923, Mrs. Stacye sold the store and used the procesds to buy an interest in the Western New York State Bus Line, forerunner of the Blue Bus Co. She moved to Batavia and acted as office manager for the company there.
         Mrs. Stacye sold out her interest in 1927, about the time she was stricken with a crippling illness. She had been confined to her bed 30 years at the time of her death.
         Besides her son, she is survived by three grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 Thursday afternoon at the home.
