Mary

- Mary was born circa 1842 in Alabama and it is as yet unknown who her parents were.
- She and Ben were the parents of Anaka.
- Following emancipation, Mary adopted the name Mary Quarles.
- Ben and Mary appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Danville PO, Montgomery County, Texas. Other members of the household included George, Anaka, Cora Quarles and Benjamin Quarles. The parents of George Quarles are as yet unknown; Mary seems too young to be his mother, and he does not appear in the Greenwood records.
