Mary McGilvary

- Mother: Vera Catherine McIver b. 20 August 1787, d. 23 November 1828
- Mary McGilvary was born on 20 March 1822 in Moore County, North Carolina.
- At the death of J. M. McGilvary's wife Eleanor, he brought his sister Mary to Texas to help raise his eight children. When she married Abram Helm in 1854 and moved to Navarro County, she took baby Eleanor to raise. Following Abram's death in 1860, John Martin and his remaining seven children went to Navarro County to live with her.
- She married Abram Helm on 2 March 1856.
- Mary McGilvary died on 1 March 1897 at age 74.
